“The best make-up of the season. One of the three best designers in New York,” stated Tom Pechuex when speaking about the beautiful look of the Altuzarra 2014 Spring RTW Collection. Fresh and sophisticated was the theme of the makeup: “In a French flavor, it’s very couture,” said Pecheux. “And the American side is casual and very easygoing.” To achieve the look using MAC Cosmetics, Pecheux opted for the classic red lips, which he made appear matte by topping them with pigment. He used white to create a see-through effect around the eyes; however, he was careful that white was limited to just over the eyelids and the corner of the eyes. If brushed under the eyes, it causes a panda effect that is not very cool!
The skin was left matte to give it a velvety effect while the lashes and brows were left bare. Odile Gilbert, of Kerastase, applied Mousse Bouffante and blow-dried the models’ hair to create a low ponytail with a natural part. Gilbert layered the ponytail with Fibre Architecte to give it texture and body. Lacque Dentelle, sprayed throughout the hair, finished the look. “When you have a low ponytail it doesn’t interfere with clothes.” “Sometimes we don’t need to be fancy. We just need to evoke a certain elegance,” stated Gilbert. Michelle Saunders, of Essie, created a natural look for the nails by applying one coat of Vanity Fair, layered with Allure. “Really simple and really beautiful lines, so we didn’t want to do anything that would distract from his collection,” stated Saunders. The minimalist makeup complemented the collection perfectly and made for a great showing.
