When you are the owner of a sublime villa in Rotterdam and you give designer Robert Kolenik carte blanche to redesign your interior, what do you get? “Eco chic eye candy for extremely comfortable living,” says the website homedesign.com. In the living room, the designer’s own custom-made couch is a stunning focal point, covered in shining fabrics and inviting plush pillows. Its counterpart is the floor-to-ceiling gleam of shining stone in the central fireplace. Can’t you just feel that soft gray rug underfoot as you curl up with a good book? Or, have people over for a fun dinner: it’s made all the more whimsical at a white onyx table with a lychee tree trunk base! The ambience is tech-savvy and sweet, from the 8-by-8-foot work desk/table with integrated media to a gorgeous white chandelier and “wrinkle”-finished wall.
That’s just the beginning of the treasures in this fine space: through folding wood doors, enjoy a super-pampering master bath, with twin sinks in black onyx, a shower big enough for a crowd, and a soaking tub for dreaming. Notice the curved floor lamp in the kitchen? It’s also the designer’s creation…although you may not need to use it when evening bathes the space in lilac-colored light. Downstairs, there’s more space for fun, with a bar and a cinema room complete with a top-flight sound system. As if all this luxury isn’t enough, the home is also energy-conscious, with rainwater recycling and automated electronic controls. As the Home Design site concludes, it’s “a perfect example of what you get when you give Kolenik carte blanche: happy clients.” (Images Published Courtesy of Robert Kolenik)
