December Nuptials with a Conga Line from Stephen DeVries
Amid the red-and-green wreaths and garlands of Christmastime, this bride and groom in Gulf Shores, Alabama, bring radiant holiday smiles and spirit to their special day, as pictured here by Stephen DeVries. The fun starts early as the bride and her maids gather for some pampering at the hairdresser’s, as the strapless gown awaits on a special hanger and the rings lie ready on a plush rose-colored pillow. Gowned and coiffed, the ladies pose with a backdrop of a festively decorated front porch; maids have one-shoulder gowns in breathtaking black, while all their bouquets are studies in delectable creamy white. The groom and his men are equally well-turned out in black tie with white roses on their lapels. Standing before a majestic stained glass window, the couple says their vows.
Then, it’s time to proceed to the reception hall for a lovely slow dance…and is there anything as wonderful as that first dance as man and wife, especially with a twinkling Christmas tree in the background? If you’re a sweet fan, maybe it’s the towering bride’s cake, five flower-trimmed layers on a splendid silver base — or, if you’re a chocoholic, the groom’s confection, surrounded by toffee nuggets. Everyone gets a nibble of the cake, of course; everyone gets on the dance floor, too, from a circle dance of tiny princesses with the bride to a spirited conga line! After a second happy couple catches bouquet and garter, the newlyweds bid their guests farewell beneath a shower of sparklers and climb into a classic convertible to ride into their future together.
