When you think of a Rebecca Minkoff collection, you think of fun, flirty, and exciting fashion. The 2014 Spring RTW Collection is no exception to this expectation. The runway show more than delivered an enthusiastic showing. With Janelle Monáe performing her latest hits in the background, Rebecca Minkoff showed off her fun designs at New York Fashion Week, causing Twitter to buzz so much that #NYFW quickly became a trend. Legendary Latino women such as Bianca Jagger and Frida Kahlo inspired the collection. The collection features exotic floral embroidery and lace. The playful use of color and street style are hallmarks of Rebecca Minkoff’s style and these were displayed beautifully in the collection.
The collection gives off a sporty air with a bit of passion and a flirty vibe. Layered with tracksuit and jersey influences, the collection made a great crossover to the feminine side giving a reminiscent quality to the sportswear pieces. The occasional high leg, high heel gives the collection a hockey player touch with the familiar style of a shin guard. While the collection is a bit tomboyish in the sporty regard, there is plenty of sugar and spice and everything nice as well. The wonderful flowing, layered, maxi dresses and floral dresses of the collection are both exquisite and easy-going for everyday wear. Many of the pieces in the collection have personalities of their own, as many of the outfits were as different as night and day. In the end, the Rebecca Minkoff 2014 Spring RTW Collection earned every bit of buzz that it generated.
