“I battled with my hair my whole life, and I thought if I could win this, I could help so many women.” The words of Rita Hazan resonate with so many women, including myself. I have always said, “If there was ever a person who could simply wave a wand and solve every woman’s hair problems, they would be a billionaire”. Allow me to introduce Rita Hazan – if there was anyone who could be that person, it is Rita. Over the past 15 years, Rita has been responsible for setting beauty trends and reinventing celebrities with amazing makeovers, such as the one she gave Beyoncé on Wednesday night. Beyoncé’s long time stylist, Kim Kimble, was shocked to say the least; she gave an interview to People, stating she did not know the haircut was coming. Her reaction to Beyoncé’s ‘revealing’ Instagram photos- “I got a little teary eyed!” Kimble said. “I’ve been working for her so long, she has this beautiful long hair, and it’s hard to grow hair out. I feel like it’s my hair, I work so much with her”.
Nonetheless, Kimble is proud of Beyoncé, and is excited about the new hairstyle possibilities that await. I am more than sure that Sasha Fierce will have a field day with the new look. Hazan also gave an interview today, with Fashionista, about Beyoncé’s new look. “When I saw her cut, I knew the color had to be soft but powerful. She wanted to keep her natural color as a grown-out look with roots to give it an edge. But, she allowed me creative freedom, which is amazing for a colorist to be able to do, especially on a superstar like Beyoncé. And she lets me get to the end result in my own way, which here was a beautiful champagne blonde” stated Rita, when asked what Beyoncé requested. Rita confirmed Beyoncé was looking for something “fresh and different”, and was not at all apprehensive about her transformation, but rather relaxed and excited. There are no look-a-like requests pouring in as of yet, however many people do not know about Beyoncé’s cut yet, as it is less than 24 hours since it was done. There is no doubt that Beyoncé’s “epic cut”, as the media has dubbed it today, will spark interest in Rita’s bold and daring creativity, as well as her salon located on 5th Ave in NYC.
