Modern Home in Poland from HOLA Design: White & Water
It’s easy to see where this modern interior by HOLA Design would get the nickname “white and water”: the spare, contemporary lines flow through a space that’s predominantly winter white…and then there’s the bathroom mural! Perhaps the most striking feature of this home, and one that sets it head and shoulders apart from most contemporary spaces of its kind, is the blue-toned photography above the soaking tub, an action shot of a swimmer taking a dive into the waves. It’s completely appropriate for the space — but also completely unexpected. It’s just one touch of pure luxury in this space as well: note the towel-warming rack on the wall, the deep vanity sink — with plenty of storage space in the drawers beneath it — and the lighted mirrors.
Besides abundant natural illumination from white-shaded windows, recessed lighting throughout the space is a fitting counterpoint to the abundant reflective qualities of basic white. Note the practical touches: a room divider with deep storage compartments, a mirrored closet in the bedroom, a handy bookshelf above the bed. Without a doubt, the space is compact: there’s no corridor between living/dining space and bedroom, yet — thanks to plenty of storage — the space stays neat and uncluttered. And for a place with a “blank canvas” palette, it’s surprisingly colorful: a patterned spread on the bed, colored light in a shelving alcove, a mellow umber on a coffee table. The overall effect is cool, serene, and refreshing, a perfect private “escape” from a noisy and at times chaotic outside world.
