Outdoor Space for All, Even the Dog: Hanz Residence by Rue Group

As you wander the gently curving stone walk from the front entrance of this home around its spacious back yard, you’ll discover a neat collection of spaces for fun and entertaining in this Fullerton area landscape by California’s Rue Group. The family liked the spaces they had but wanted to update them to “freshen” the look of their property, as well as providing safe spots for their children to play. As an added bonus, Rue Group was actually recommended to the family by their next-door neighbors, which gave the family an additional pleasant surprise when they learned that Rue could provide more than just design services; they could also help with other myriad details including subcontracting and dealing with the various trades involved in a rather extensive renovation.

As you enter the gated front yard, you see multi-purpose green space: a lush lawn and a putting green grace the front, and a parking area also provides a basketball court! And is there anything more inviting than this stone-edged pool, framed by graceful palms and exuberant flowering bushes? After a dip, step up on the patio and relax on a brick and masonry “sofa,” have a relaxing beverage at the umbrella-shaded table and chairs, and savor a view that can’t be beat. The cooking area and fire pit make parties easy to host, and a new retaining wall treats guests to an exquisite side garden replete with color. Everyone’s thrilled with this renovation — including the newest member of the family, the Hanzes’ dog! — courtesy of the artisans at Rue Group.
