Some people can’t get enough of wintertime or Christmas — and this Birmingham, Alabama, bride and groom are among that number in these pictures from Stephen DeVries. A wedding a week before Christmas Eve might tempt a bride to indulge in bright red and green; this bride, however, has different ideas. Her maids are in lovely flowing ice-blue; the groom’s in white tie and vest, while his men sport blue satin lapels and dark vests by contrast. The season isn’t totally forgotten, however: the men wear rather clever pine cone boutonnieres! The bride is picture-perfect in elegant, classic white lace and tiny net veil; the “reveal” shows a groom with stars in his eyes, indeed. Then, in a church bedecked with evergreen, the two become one.
There’s no ordinary guestbook here: instead, family and friends autograph Christmas ornaments with loving messages. The bride’s cake is a vision in white, while the groom’s dessert table is chocolate truffle “lollipops” and mini-parfaits. Lanterns are graced with flowers, evergreens, and white candles, tables are dressed in gorgeous hunter green, and pillars are wrapped with tiny lights. Amid Christmas trees and strings of light, the dancing begins — and even the tiniest members of the family participate! Finally, the bride tosses her bouquet, and the groom the garter — wrapped around a football — before the newlyweds take their leave, in a decorated car complete with “Just Married” on the back window and a string of shoes tied to the bumper…an apt finishing touch to a classic celebration.
