If you treasure a dream of nuptials in a secluded country vale, with a reception outside a white clapboard church and beneath swaying willow trees, then this wedding, as captured by Brett Hickman Photographers, will be just your cup of tea. The bride’s a picture in demure, sweet lace, three-quarter sleeves, and cascading curls; sparkly blue heels await on the piano, perched by a metronome! She has a tender moment with her mom and assists her father with his tie; her maids are in short, bright coral-to-pink dresses that match her mother’s colorful jacket. The men are all in blue: blue shirts, suspenders, ties, and blue-gray slacks, with no one but the groom in a sport coat. Flowers are simple sprays of orange, yellow, and purple, zinnias, dahlias, and alyssum, the blooms of a home garden.
Guests enjoy a photo array on their way to the ceremony, a warmhearted and easygoing affair. After the vows are said, the happy couple takes time for breathtaking shots on a rustic bridge and on the steps of that clapboard chapel. Then it’s time for goofy bridal-party pictures, and the reception awaits: set up in the shade, long tables are dressed with casual bouquets in canning jars, squat glass vases, and other homey accoutrements. Guests can leave the bride and groom a message via “mailbox”; cakes are white bridal and cake “pops” for the groom, complete with “tuxedo” décor. After an evening of dancing and laughter, the bride and groom slip away into the woods for one kiss for luck…and they’re on their way to a lifetime of memories.
