Have you got great summer camp memories? The groom in this wedding certainly did; he and his bride arranged to have their wedding take place at the camp where he went as a boy. That’s only one of the personal touches this bride and groom wove into their special day, as pictured in these images from Stephen DeVries. The groom proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that real men do, indeed, wear pink: his vest is the color of cotton candy, his bow tie a fun plaid to go with gray suits and blue ties on the other men; and a pre-wedding gift of what looks like a comic book brings out the little boy in him and his groomsmen. The bride carries a sweet bouquet of pink and white, while her girls beam in pale gray.
And there’s more pink at the wedding site: pink lemonade is served from a tall glass pitcher, and a pink floral garland drapes a simple cross on an outdoor altar. The reception continues in a lighthearted vein, with a “tailgate”-themed groom’s cake complete with frosting “beer cans” and “steak sauce” bottle for a cake shaped like a grill and a cooler! The bride’s cake is more traditional — stately and white — but, just for fun, the guests can also have dog-shaped cookies and small bottles of milk as a refreshing change. Soon enough, it’s time for the newlyweds to depart; they change from their wedding finery into going-away clothes and are seen off in the light of sparklers…to a new life together awash with the joy of this unforgettable day.
