Vintage Valentine’s Decor with Wedding Gowns

Vintage furniture and home decorations are actually relaxing and cozy. Sometimes we seek them for classic and traditional home styles to enhance the appearance and match with our furniture pieces. Making use of old stuff to create a romantic look for Valentine’s Day in the vintage style is a creative idea. But making decorations from 10 wedding gowns… this is definitely a huge artwork!! Many of you may not have wedding gowns to create decorations similar to these ones shown here; the solution is simple. Try to buy enough fabric including very soft sheets, such as chiffon, tulle, organza and lace. You may also buy ruffled, embellished or sequined pieces for an extra beautiful look. As I mentioned above, you can use any existing fabric from old dresses, if your budget is restricted. In this case, you will need to cut straight pieces in the form of sheets and ribbons.

The decorations shown in the photos of this post have been made in a similar manner such that wide ribbons extended on the mantels, sofas, tables and a big tree. A big pine tree has been wrapped with two dresses, actually cut from the middle to make the tree appear as if it’s wearing them. The other parts of the dresses have been used to make decorative wreaths. Floral embellishments have been separated from embroidered fabrics to decorate the outer range of the wreaths and to be on top of some gifts. The big work wasn’t in decorating the tree or the home with Valentine’s accessories; it was in decorating the dining room. The chiffon and organza sheets have been cut from the dresses to decorate the chairs, the plain silk pieces have been cut for the other furniture pieces, and the ruffled skirts have been spread all over the table to reach the floor from each side. Above them, a pink colored centerpiece has been placed – it’s actually made from pink painted faux pumpkins, twigs and flowers, which have all been used on thanksgiving. Pink flowers, satin ribbons and crochet spreads decorate each table, even the bed has been covered with a very unique, handmade crochet spread. Other decorations look quite vintage with pearl necklaces, Cupid statues, carton love tags and all the pink handmade accessories that spread everywhere.
