World’s Best Father: Dave Engledow with Daughter Alice Bee
Every so often we come across something special, something different, and something very, very witty. Here we have a wonderful selection of photos from the ‘World’s Best Dad’, so proclaimed by the mug you will see strategically used in every shot taken. Clearly Dave Engledow has a great sense of humor and also adores his daughter, as why else would he create a photo-shoot involving her in every frame. As he explains: “The character I portray in this series is intended to be a parody of the father I hope I never become–distracted, self-absorbed, neglectful, clueless, or even occasionally overbearing. I’ve always used humor as a way to deal with my personal fears and neuroses, and in many way these images are often an attempt to do just that–to illustrate humorously the fears that I and, as I’ve learned, many other new fathers have about fatherhood.”
It is very apparent that Dave has a clear idea of how to convey a moment, a situation, a scenario in a way that not only gets a clear message across, but also includes a very large element of tongue-in-cheek humor. We absolutely adore the way his daughter plays the put-upon patsy to a tee with beleaguered looks. She is utterly adorable and it is easy to tell, even at an early age, that this girl will always be great fun to be around. And as for Dave’s fears of being the stereotypical dad he dreads, we think that if he carries on the way he is going, there will be no chance of that ever happening. We can imagine that life must be quite a riot in that household at times, especially as mum, who takes the photos, clearly approves of all this ‘outlandish’ behavior.
